Straight, solid and built to last

A fence is only as strong as its posts. We set every post deep in concrete, use gravel boards to keep timber clear of damp ground and check the line of the boundary before a single panel goes up. Close-board fencing with concrete posts remains the toughest option for exposed gardens, standing up to wind and wet winters far better than lightweight panels. Slatted and decorative screens give a softer, more contemporary look where privacy matters less, and we're happy to mix styles along a single run so the fence suits each part of the garden.

Gates, walls and storm repairs

As well as new fencing we hang made-to-measure gates, build brick and sleeper boundary walls, and repair storm damage. When a fence comes down in bad weather we can usually replace posts and panels within a few days of the visit, matching the existing style so the repair doesn't stand out. All our fencing work is carried out by our own team, and we take away the old panels and posts rather than leaving them stacked in your garden.

Heights, boundaries and advice

Fence height, boundary lines and neighbouring gardens all come into play. As a general rule you can go up to 2 metres at the rear and 1 metre beside a highway without planning permission, and we'll talk through your specific boundary at the quote visit so there are no surprises later. Where a shared boundary is involved we're happy to deal with neighbours directly and keep everyone informed while the work is carried out.
